How to create a product

Before we start, one thing to know:
0:08
day to day you'll hardly ever need to create products by hand.
0:12
Products and their images are created on their own as orders come in from the connected sales channels.
0:18
This form is for the exceptions:
0:20
a product that hasn't sold through any channel yet, or something that needs fixing.
0:26
You open it from Stock, Products, with the plus button at the bottom right.
0:31
As always, the store comes first:
0:33
the product will be created in the catalog of the store you pick here.
0:39
The form opens with the store already filled in.
0:42
At the top go the general details:
0:44
the name, which is what everyone sees, and an optional description that helps tell it apart from a similar one.
0:52
The unit of measure defines how the product is counted:
0:55
by unit, by kilo or by liter.
0:57
It's what you'll then see in the stock and in every warehouse movement.
1:02
Below is the "Is a pack" switch.
1:04
The question mark next to it explains what that means without leaving the form.
1:09
Since this product is a box built from two others, we mark it as a pack.
1:14
Once we do, each variant gets a section to define what goes inside it.
1:19
Every product needs at least one variant.
1:22
The SKU is its internal code and has to be unique within the store:
1:26
it's what identifies this variant and no other in the stock,
1:30
in the movements and when picking orders.
1:34
Barcodes are a different thing:
1:35
they're the ones printed on the packaging and the ones the scanner reads.
1:40
A single variant can have several, for example if the packaging changed and both are in the warehouse at the same time.
1:47
The variant description is what tells it apart from its siblings — a size, a color, a package format.
1:53
Each variant can also have its own unit of measure,
1:57
and be deactivated without touching the rest of the product.
2:01
And here's where the pack is put together:
2:04
you pick a variant from the catalog and the quantity that goes in the box.
2:08
We add one yerba and one mate.
2:10
The search filters by SKU or by name,
2:13
and packs are left out of the list so you can't build a pack inside another pack.
2:18
With the SKU filled in and the pack complete, Save becomes enabled.
2:23
Done: the product is created and you're taken back to the store's catalog.
2:28
From its detail page you can see it with its variants and its stock,
2:32
and the Edit button opens this same form to change whatever you need.
Did you get it?
When do you actually need to load a product by hand with this form?
For exceptions: something not sold yet through any channel, or that needs fixing
Always — it's the only way to add products
Only when connecting a new store for the first time
