How the attributes catalog works

• 0:02Attributes are classification marks used throughout the app, though each actor uses them differently.
• 0:08This is the central catalog where they're created and edited.
• 0:12Tapping the help shows what they're used for in each context:
• 0:16on shipments they describe what the package needs (Requirements),
• 0:20on drivers what they can carry (Capabilities),
• 0:23and on filters they help find only what you're looking for (Restrictions).
• 0:28At the Requirements level, this has a concrete effect:
• 0:31besides the orders already assigned to them,
• 0:34a rider sees unassigned orders whose requirements are all covered by their capabilities.
• 0:39If that order gets assigned to another rider, they stop seeing it.
• 0:43That's why this feature doesn't assign automatically
• 0:46— it only makes visible the orders that meet the requirements and don't have a rider yet.
• 0:52Let's close the help. Besides creating and assigning them here by hand,
• 0:57many attributes get applied on their own when an order is created,
• 1:01thanks to automatic rules — that's covered in the Rules video.
• 1:05For now, let's create a new attribute.
• 1:08Fill in the display name;
• 1:10the color and description are optional.
• 1:12We call it Heavy, to identify orders that weigh more than usual.
• 1:17Once created, it appears right away in the list,
• 1:20ready to be assigned from any of the three contexts.
• 1:23From each attribute's menu you can edit or deactivate it whenever you want.
• 1:28Let's open editing to add a description.
• 1:31We write a description that explains when it should be used.
• 1:34We save the changes, and the attribute is updated.
• 1:37That's how you manage the whole catalog of attributes that later describe what a shipment needs,
• 1:43what a driver can do, or help filter searches, depending on where they're used.
